Austin City Council & Education Candidate Questionnaire & Responses

Because of COVID-19 the Stonewall Democrats of Austin have had to modify our candidate endorsement process for the November 4 General Elections. On September 14 and 21 Stonewall and the Liberal Austin Democrats held two joint virtual candidate forums with City Council and School Board candidates. Our endorsement process requires that candidates must complete a questionnaire in order to be considered for endorsement. Candidates were sent the questionnaire on September 21 and had to return it by September 28. Below in the files section are the responses of those candidates who responded by the deadline.

In order to gain the endorsement of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin, a candidate or proposition must receive at least 60% of the votes cast in that race. In races where there are three or more candidates and no candidate received at least 60% of the votes cast, but two candidates receive at least 40% of the votes cast, then there will be a dual endorsement in that race.

An email with a link to the ballot has been sent to all current members. A separate email has been sent to all lapsed members and who are eligible to renew their membership in order to vote. Should you have questions about your membership please email rich.g.bailey@gmail.com
