The Stonewall Democrats of Austin will be holding a Candidate Endorsement Forum on Thursday, January 28th in the Smith Auditorium of the Congregation Beth Israel (3901 Shoal Creek Blvd). Doors will open at 5:30 pm and the meeting will begin at 6:00 pm.

In order to be considered for endorsement a candidate must have filled out our questionnaire (we will have copies of the candidates’ responses to our questionnaire available at the meeting). Candidates will give 1-2 minute opening remarks, followed by 2-3 minutes Q&A with our members, then 1 minute for closing remarks for a total of 5 minutes per candidate. After we hear from all the candidates that evening the membership will discuss each race then cast ballots.

In order to be able to vote in the endorsement meetings you must have been a member in good standing of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin for at least 30 days prior to the endorsement meeting. Those whose membership has lapsed within the past 2 years will be able to vote provided they renew their membership, which can be done at the meeting or by clicking here.

The entire membership may participate in the candidate forum and the discussion of the candidate's positions but only those members eligible to vote as defined above may cast ballots. A 60% vote of eligible members present and voting shall be required for the endorsement of any candidate.

Candidate responses to our questionnaires can be found here.
