On Wednesday, September 14th the membership of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin met in the Smith Auditorium at Congregation Beth Israel to hear from candidates for City Council Districts 2, 4, 6, 7, and 10. In order to be eligible to be considered for the club endorsement candidates were required to respond to a questionnaire addressing a number of LGBT issues. Candidate responses are at http://www.stonewallaustin.org/elections In order to receive an endorsement a candidate needed to obtain at least 60% of the votes of those present and voting. The following candidates were endorsed: District 2: Delia Garza In addition to the endorsement we will also be making a financial contribution to each candidate. The membership also voted to make a financial contribution to both the Travis County Democratic Party's and Williamson County Democratic Party's Coordinated Campaigns. Finally the membership voted to consider endorsements in the ACC and AISD elections. This endorsement meeting will be held as the October SDA meeting. Date and place to be announced.
